Chiropractic with on-site x-ray
We provide safe, effective spinal corrections to help you achieve your fullest health. With the benefit of on-site x-ray to pinpoint the problem, chiropractic treatments may also include acupressure (no needles here—just massage-like pressure), traction, electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, and application of heat or ice.
Massage
At times a massage may be in order to help improve circulation and reduce stress. We provide 30- and 60-minute massages of various types, including sports, deep tissue, and pregnancy massages.
These are only a few of the popular massage techniques that are available at Brady Chiropractic Group. Please see any staff member, or ask your massage therapist for a full list of techniques and therapy exercises.
Swedish Massage – Swedish massage uses two main strokes. Pestrasage and Effeulague. Pestrasage is a deep muscular stroke designed to work musculature and return veinous blood to the heart, and Effeulague reduces the effects of stress and gives the body a sense of “well being”.
Neuromuscular – The Neuromuscular therapy helps remove areas with irritability caused from injury, strain or repetitive stress which causes a build up of lactic acid in the musculature. The irritated area is first compressed, which helps squeeze the lactic acid out of that area by ischemic compression, and digital pressure (blanching effect) reduces the blood in the area then releases the pressure which causes an influx of blood to the point which further helps dissipate the trigger point.
Sports Massage – The main purpose of sports massage is to relieve any tension that builds up in the body’s soft tissue during physical activity. The massage helps prepare the athlete for peak performance. It also drains away fatigue, relieves swelling and promotes flexibility and to prevent injuries. A variety of techniques are used depending on the needs of the athlete.
Hot Rock Massage – The same techniques that are used in Therapeutic Massage are used for Hot Rock Massage. The only difference being that the massage therapist will massage the muscles with the rocks instead of the hands. The main goal of the hot rocks is that the heat from the rocks relaxes your muscles quicker and easier.
Prenatal Massage – Prenatal Massage has been known to reduce pregnancy discomforts using specific techniques and enhances the well being of both the mother and the fetus. Here at Brady Chiropractic we use maternity pillows made especially for pregnant women.
Accupuncture
Brady Chiropractic Group, PC is happy to start offering acupuncture to our current and past and future patients. Dr. Sean Lynch, who brought his chiropractic and Zero Balancing skills to us in 2011, will be delivering the safe and effective healing art of acupuncture.
Acupuncture is a system designed to restore balance and wellness to the energy of the body. Patients will experience an exam or review of their current and past health history, explore what is “symptomatic” for them now and often receive their first session, in their first visit. With the information gathered, Dr. Lynch will develop a plan individualized for you and your specific needs and wants.
Patients utilizing acupuncture often report less effects of stress, better rest, improved digestion, less pain in the joints, head or chronically in the soft tissues of the body. Some report improved athletic performance, better balance, fewer illnesses and greater peace.
Acupuncture is performed by the gentle insertion of extremely thin gauge needles. Patients experience the range from surprisingly no pain, to small pinch to occasional pain, and then often don't feel the needles at all. While there are many styles of acupuncture, ranging from use of many to one needle, leaving them in from just an insertion to 20-40 min, in general, the style you will receive from Dr. Lynch will last 10-15 min after the needles are in. They are sterile, one time use needles which adds to the safety of acupuncture. In general it is safe to move while the needles are in, if for some reason you should need to. We will leave you with a bell as a way to get support from the doctors or staff. Occasionally, a patient will experience bruising at the site of the acupuncture, redness, some itching, but often times will only experience the relaxation and symptom relief effects.
Dr. Lynch explains acupuncture with an analogy using rivers, creeks and streams. There are 12 creeks, in acupuncture called meridians, that flow through and along different areas of the body. As long as the creeks remain un-obstructed, physical, mental and emotional health is maintained. If the creek gets dammed up from trauma, overuse, repetitive strain, mental stress, emotional loss or fear, then the flow of the energy(called chi, or Qi in acupuncture) floods one area causing pain, swelling, redness, heaviness.......or drought like symptoms of dryness, weakness, itching, weariness the area has been dammed up for a long time, it may take a while to restore the normal flow of things, if the blockage is newer, a person may respond quickly.
It is not uncommon in acupuncture treatment plans to suggest up to 15 visits. It has been my observation and recommendation for the patients of Brady Chiropractic to start with a conservative trial of 3 visits to see how it supports their wellness and then determine the need for further care. Acupuncture often integrates well with chiropractic care, massage, counseling , other therapies and can be safely performed on the same or different visits.
If you have questions about how acupuncture may help you on your wellness plan, please share them directly with your doctor or through our helpful staff.
